**Silica Hazard Prevention Training**
OSHA requires employers to protect their employees from known hazards in the workplace, including exposure to respirable crystalline silica. Silica Hazard Prevention training teaches employees to recognize the risks associated with silica exposure by identifying the symptoms and preventive measures. Employees must be able to implement safety practices and provide prompt first aid to those who are experiencing silica-related health issues. This webinar explains the causes and symptoms of silica-related illnesses and what to do if they occur at a job site.
This webinar will cover:
- General information on Silica Hazards
- An explanation of the causes of Silica Exposure
- Guidance on Silica Exposure prevention
- Emergency response procedures
After completing the training, your employees will be able to:
- Identify silica exposure signs and symptoms
- Provide first aid for silica-related health issues
- Work safely in environments where silica dust may be present
**Regulations covered:**
- General Duty Clause- Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (the "General Duty Clause") requires an employer to furnish to its employees: "employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees..."
- OSHA's Respirable Crystalline Silica Standard for Construction (29 CFR 1926.1153) and General Industry (29 CFR 1910.1053) which set forth permissible exposure limits (PELs) and requirements for exposure assessment, respiratory protection, housekeeping, medical surveillance, and training.
