Workforce Development Opportunity: Henrico Life Ready Expo Volunteers Needed

This year’s Henrico Life Ready Expo for students & parents will be in-person on Tuesday, October 19^th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Hermitage High School.

WHAT IS IT:    Henrico’s award-winning Life Ready Expo is a district-wide career exploration event for area students grades 7-12. The Life Ready Expo offers students and their families the opportunity to talk with employers from each of Virginia’s 17 career clusters, and learn about career pathways, educational requirements along with compensation, and future growth in career fields. At this event in 2019, 150+ business partners shared information with more than 4,000 attendees. Last year during COVID, VARP participated in several virtual “mini” Life Ready Expo events where 125+ businesses and industry leaders engaged with 1,200 attendees.  

WHY PARTICIPATE:   The goal of this event is for students to learn about career pathways that interest them, while making connections with businesses and industry leaders. To tackle the growing labor shortage,  students need to be exposed to careers far earlier than their senior year. The Life Ready Expo is an opportunity for businesses and industries to make such connections with students early to build employee capacity for the future. And don’t forget,  junior and senior students attending the event will be looking for opportunities for internships, summer employment, job shadowing experiences, and careers after graduation.

HOW DO I SIGN UP:   Volunteers who are passionate about promoting roofing as a career are needed to help staff VARP's table at the event.  This is an opportunity to talk with students and parents about the advantages of a career in roofing.  Please RSVP to sign up.
