    The Virginia Association of Roofing Professionals is a trade organization of roofing professionals. It is a non-partisan, non-profit organization supported by voluntary membership dues. The broad-based membership includes contractors, suppliers and associate categories.

    Who Is Eligible?

    Below are the handouts for the Board of Directors meetings over the past year, including agendas, minutes, and financial statements. Minutes from the various committees are also available. If you have any questions, please contact the VARP office at (804) 497-5917.

    Contractors

    Any person, firm or corporation holding a contractor license with the Commonwealth of Virginia to engage in the roofing business shall be eligible for contractor membership upon written application and payment of dues as provided in the bylaws.

    Suppliers

    Any person, firm or corporation primarily engaged in manufacturing, distributing or selling goods or services to contractor members, and who are willing to cooperate with VARC in its efforts to attain its objectives as set forth in Article II, shall be eligible for supplier membership upon written application and payment of dues as provided in the bylaws, and shall have the rights and privileges of contractor members.

    Associates

    Any person, firm or corporation not directly involved in roofing contracting, or selling goods or services to roofing contractors, shall be eligible for associate membership, with no voting privileges. Examples of associate professionals include architects, engineers, specifiers, building owners and property managers. Associate professionals can become a member by written application and payment of dues as provided in the bylaws.

    Recognized Standard of Excellence: All Association members are vetted by the Board of Directors before they can join the organization. VARP membership conveys professionalism.

    Professional Development (Mentoring): Opportunities to exchange ideas and information through networking at meetings and conferences with a diverse group of members.

    Professional Business Resources: Clearinghouse of associated professional business services, including insurance contacts (liability, workers comp, health), financial planners and attorneys.

    World Wide Web Presence: Members are immediately listed on the Association’s site and can be linked for greater visibility Consumers, general contractors, architects and consultants often call the Association for a list of members in a certain area. As an Association member, you are eligible to be on the lists that are requested.

    Annual Membership Directory: The Association’s Member Directory of all members in good standing, available on-line.

    Technical Training and Education: Programs tailored to meet the current needs of the membership.

    • Safety programs including Fall Protection and Torch Safety classes.

    • AIA accredited technical training classes.

    • Roofing Apprenticeship Program - The Association administers the only statewide Roofing Apprenticeship Program. After successful completion of the two-year program, apprentices receive a Journeyman Roofer Certificate from the Department of Labor & Industry, recognized throughout the United States.

    Networking

    Annual Summer Convention: The Annual Summer Convention allows members and guests to enjoy a family-oriented convention each Summer. Attendees have the opportunity to exchange ideas and information through networking, socializing with old and new friends and enjoying the many recreational activities and social events with their families…

    Regional Events: Regional networking events, including informal happy hours and ‘lunch and learn’ programs, provide opportunities for members to network and socialize with their fellow roofing professionals. Event sponsors allow us to provide complimentary drinks and appetizers to attendees.
